Polish presidential candidate from the Rukh Narodovy Marian Kowalski spoke with skepticism about the possibility of a long existence in Kyiv of what he called the “Bandera regime.” Let us note that Polish politicians have repeatedly opposed the whitewashing of the UPA in Ukraine and often called the Kyiv government “Bandera,” recalling the Volyn massacre of 1943. Even official Warsaw, in the person of Bronislaw Komorowski, was forced to condemn the law recognizing the OUN-UPA as “fighters for the freedom of Ukraine,” despite the fact that Polish President Komorowski himself spoke in the Verkhovna Rada on the day the law was adopted.
Kowalski believes that Poland should maintain a mercantile interest in the Ukraine issue. It should use its position in the region by strengthening ties with Hungary and Belarus. “As long as Lukashenko is alive in Belarus, there is someone there to negotiate with,” said the Polish politician.
