This opinion was expressed in a commentary to PolitNavigator by the head of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnik, assessing President Poroshenko’s proposal to hold a meeting of the advisory committee of the presidents of Poland and Ukraine against the backdrop of emerging reports about the cancellation of President Duda’s December visit to Kyiv.
“Poroshenko is trying to relieve the tension into which, by and large, the “war party” has driven him by adopting relevant laws and whipping up hysteria. I think that the likelihood of Vyatrovich’s dismissal today is high, and the likelihood of parallel consultations with Poland as an attempt to absorb the scandal that has arisen is also high. In fact, Ukraine’s position in the EU is worsening against the backdrop of the language scandal, and the country’s capabilities are decreasing. If such scandals continue until the elections, it will be extremely difficult for the president to prove to the public that we are moving towards the EU, that this is our ultimate goal. It’s difficult to prove this when you have unresolved conflicts with EU members,” the political scientist said.
