Poland has given the go-ahead to host 80 more NATO combat helicopters

The Polish army has agreed to deploy on its territory the second major US unit - a combat aviation brigade, which includes more than 80 helicopters.

About it reports the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita.

It is reported that at the end of March 2017, US combat aircraft will be stationed at the airfield in Powidz in the central Greater Poland Voivodeship. It is planned that the group will provide air support for the US tank brigade that arrived earlier.

The air group includes about 50 Black Hawk helicopters, 24 AN-64 Apache attack helicopters and approximately 10 Chinook heavy military transport helicopters. US combat aircraft will be accompanied by 400 military personnel.

It is noted that the aircraft have already been delivered to Germany and will soon be transported to Poland.

On January 7, 2017, the first group of 250 American soldiers under the NATO program arrived in Poland, on January 9, a tank group of the US Armed Forces arrived, and on January 22, the first precision cruise missiles arrived.
