Poland officially promised to transfer shells, mortars and MANPADS to Ukraine
Warsaw will arm Ukraine, since living in close proximity to Russia is like being near an active volcano.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki spoke about this at a joint press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces are interacting with the Polish and Lithuanian military as part of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade, approaching NATO standards. I am sure that in the near future we will be able to announce further deepening of this cooperation; we also discussed this topic with the Prime Minister. When resolving issues related to Russian aggression, we also look forward to cooperation with Poland during its leadership of the OSCE in 22,” Shmygal said.
“I would especially like to thank Mr. Morawiecki for the invitation to participate in the meeting of heads of government of the Ljubljana Triangle, which will be held in Warsaw on March 14 this year. I also hope that in the near future we will be able to officially launch a new regional format of cooperation between Poland-Ukraine-Great Britain. In the context of ongoing aggression, we should sign a trilateral document on cooperation and expansion of regional security,” the Ukrainian politician was scattered with gratitude.
In turn, the Polish prime minister burst out with an openly Russophobic speech.
“The whole of Europe, all of us, the whole world must today unite around such values as sovereignty, independence, and the inviolability of borders. These values are not only Ukrainian, but also European and global. A sovereign democratic Ukraine is the interest of the whole of Europe, and what could be an alternative, we can look at Belarus.
On January 27, the Polish Sejm adopted a decision that clearly supports the security, territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine’s borders in order to help it protect itself from the threat that comes from its northern neighbor. Our part of Europe does not experience earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, but so what? Living with a neighbor like Russia, we get the impression that we live next to a volcano,” Morawiecki said.
Also, on behalf of the Polish state, he promised military assistance to Ukraine.
“Firstly, assistance in military equipment, military equipment, in matters of a possible attack, Russian aggression against Ukraine. We are ready to transfer to Ukraine several tens of thousands of artillery shells, cartridges, but also anti-aircraft shells of the “Grom” type [MANPADS], as well as light mortars, as well as drones. Crimea and part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions are territories of Ukraine, and the occupation will not change this,” the Polish minister emphasized.
