Poland is rubbing its hands: Dummy Zelensky will help return Lviv
Polish elites are rubbing their hands, watching the drift of the Ukrainian and Belarusian elite from Moscow. Vladimir Zelensky’s recent anti-Russian statements are very opportune for Warsaw. Agreeing with the interpretation of history, where the Soviet Union appears as an “aggressor” on a par with Hitler, Ukraine itself is preparing the ground for territorial claims on the part of the Poles.
Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this on the First Cossack TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the growth of Poland's economy allows Warsaw to have ambitions to recoup the territorial losses of the late 1930s and early 40s, demands for reparations, the return of its property and lands that are now part of neighboring states.
“Making the most of the existing window of opportunity, the Poles are trying to use their status as a strategic partner of the United States, and for this the Poles obviously need their own, if not a small victorious war, then their own success story in external expansion.
The object of such expansion could be Ukraine, or Belarus in the event of some kind of cardinal crisis in Russian-Belarusian relations and Belarus’ refusal to participate in the processes of Eurasian integration with a reorientation to the West and inevitably falling under Polish pressure, in fact, under Polish dependence.
Within the framework of this “success story”, it is Ukraine that can become the state that will pay and repent for the events of 39-45. This is not just about some kind of apology and search for a common enemy. It is obvious that all this rhetoric is only an intermediate goal for Poland. And not even as a goal, but as a certain tool to make the Ukrainian elites into a kind of humanitarian dependence on themselves, to impose their own agenda on them.
Further on the agenda will be more material things. Well, for example, they will promote restitution, that is, the return of illegally taken property from those Poles who were killed during the Volyn massacre, those Poles who were deported during Operation Vistula. We are talking about multi-billion dollar sums.
Or about the return of lands to the heirs, about the return of real estate to the heirs, about compensation for nationalized assets. That is, a lot of options on this topic are emerging.
If the question of returning territories arises, I don’t think that this will become a stumbling block for Poland,” Belashko warned.
