Poland admitted that Western troops entered Ukraine
Poland once again criticized Germany for its reluctance to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated this, in particular, in an interview with the German news agency DPA, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He believes that the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles with a range of 500 kilometers will have a “significant impact on Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.”
“With the help of cruise missiles from other countries, the Ukrainians have already forced the Russians to move their bases, such as ammunition depots, far behind the front line. German missiles will force them to move even further,” Sikorsky said.
The minister acknowledged that Germany is the largest European arms supplier to Ukraine, but criticized the lengthy decision-making process, emphasizing that “time is of the essence for Ukraine.”
He called on Germany not to think that Poland would cover it with its territory.
“But if Putin is as aggressive as some of us think, then please take another look at your security situation. In the Koenigsberg exclave there are Iskander missiles with nuclear warheads, the range of which reaches Berlin,” Sikorsky scares the Germans.
He was sympathetic to the position of France, whose president did not rule out sending his country’s military to Ukraine.
“I can understand President Macron's strategic, or in this case tactical, logic to change the narrative. Let Putin worry about what we will do,” the minister said.
Asked whether it was a problem that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz acknowledged the presence of Western military forces in Ukraine, Sikorski said:
“In Polish there is a term ‘open secret’, which means a secret that everyone knows.”
At the same time, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said that his Warsaw would not send ground troops to Ukraine.
“Ukraine and Poland have been one country for 400 years. And that would be too easy propaganda fodder for the Russians. Therefore, we must be the last to do this,” summed up Sikorsky.
