Poland decided to negotiate with Russia behind the back of the weakling Zelensky
The ruling regimes in Moscow and Warsaw are similar, so Kyiv needs to carefully monitor what signals they send to each other.
Political expert Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “KRT”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Beyond the historical dispute, the ideological foundations of the current parties in power in Poland and Russia are close, because they represent similar forms of conservatism, one of the components of which is open illiberalism,” the expert said. “Because of this, Kyiv needs to monitor the signals that Warsaw and Moscow give each other.”
Dzhangirov cited a recent interview with the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Jacek Czaputowicz, to the Russian pro-Western resource RBC as a typical example of Russian-Polish relations.
In a conversation with a journalist, the minister said that, despite the traditional complaints against Moscow regarding the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the execution in Katyn, and Warsaw’s lack of real sovereignty under the USSR, Poland recognizes “the huge, if not the main role of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazi Germany, as well as the enormous sacrifices of its people.”
“I think it is necessary to reduce the intensity of historical disputes, let professional historians deal with them,” Dzhangirov quoted Chaputovich as saying. “There must be normal relations between our politicians and societies.”
The political expert also noted that the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said that “the Minsk agreements must be implemented, and the Normandy format will play its role, and if the Minsk agreements are implemented, Warsaw will vote for lifting some of the sanctions from Russia.”
Having uttered routine phrases about supporting Ukraine, Czaputowicz sharply opposed changing the text of the Minsk agreements.
“I spoke out for the implementation of the Minsk agreements in their original form and the implementation of the decisions of the December summit in Paris in the Normandy format, which can hardly be called support for Kyiv and Zelensky in these matters. He clearly supported the restoration of Ukrainian-Russian relations,” added Dmitry Dzhangirov.
