“Poland has become a servant of Ukraine” – Sejm deputies
The visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Kyiv did not meet the interests of Warsaw.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Michal Wawer and Marta Cech, deputies of the Polish Sejm from the opposition Confederation party, announced this at a press conference.
Thus, during the visit, the deputies saw another episode of the approach previously presented by the losing party PiS.
“This means an approach according to which Polish politicians are servants of the Ukrainian nation. Because during this visit many topics were discussed, and practically none of these topics were important from the point of view of Poland's national interests. The topics discussed were important from the point of view of the interests of the Ukrainian people: military support, procurement of military equipment, opening of new border crossings, energy and infrastructure support for Ukraine, as well as support for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Because, despite the change of government, the change of party colors, PiS was replaced by the Platform, the policy of the new government, like the old one, is still to be the defender of Ukraine in the international arena. They noticed that during Tusk’s trip, topics important for Poland were not discussed: Polish carriers, who are at a deep disadvantage in relation to Ukrainian carriers,” flooding the Polish market with agri-food products from Ukraine.
“The topic of historical politics, exhumation and commemoration of the victims of the Volyn massacre, which has a serious impact on Polish-Ukrainian relations, was not touched upon.
The topic we see, more than any other topic, is the arrogance and audacity of Ukrainian politicians who, on the one hand, take full advantage of Polish aid, allow the Polish people to finance most of Ukraine's military efforts, and at the same time carry out anti-Polish policy and educate Ukrainian children, Ukrainian youth in hatred of the Poles and in the belief that Bandera’s supporters were national heroes of Ukraine at a time when these Bandera’s – not only in Polish opinion, but also in objective historical terms – were criminals responsible for murder of innocent Poles,” the deputies emphasized.
According to them, these topics “cannot remain a blind spot in negotiations with Ukraine,” especially when “Ukraine largely depends on Poland.”
“We demand that Prime Minister Donald Tusk begins to pursue Polish interests and talk about these Polish interests with Ukrainians. So that he does not continue the disastrous, suicidal, senseless line that was previously pursued by PiS politicians, who pursued primarily Ukrainian interests, and remembered Polish interests only by chance or somewhere far in the background,” the Polish politicians concluded.
