Poland is building a new Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with the support of the United States: Belarus is the first goal
Poland is pursuing a strategy of indirect actions towards Ukraine and Belarus.
The head of the Belarus department of the Institute of CIS Countries, Alexander Fadeev, stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The goal of this strategy is imperial dominance not only in the territories that were historically part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth before the partitions, but also in Crimea, the Kaliningrad region and a number of other territories. But dominance over such a vast territory is possible only with the patronage of the United States,” Fadeev said.
According to him, a manifestation of such a policy is “dragging the political class of Ukraine and Belarus into the liberal democratic camp, including through Western values through the media located in Poland, student exchange, scientific and cultural contacts.”
“The idea of building a new Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth through the implementation of strong policies dominates the political course of the ruling party. In practice, Warsaw prefers to use a strategy of indirect action...
At the first stage, Poland will defend the option of rapprochement with Belarus through the EU, when Belarus will separately negotiate conditions with each member of the European Union,” Fadeev said.
