Poland hit its citizens by refusing Russian coal
According to Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskva, the state-owned company PGE Paliwa is awaiting the delivery of coal and the arrival of eight ships from different countries at the port of Gdansk.

Polish authorities hope to receive 700 thousand tons of black fuel in the near future. Coal for the country is bought from the USA, Colombia, Indonesia, South Africa and Australia.
Due to the need to use sea transport, imported coal is much more expensive than Russian raw materials, which the Polish authorities abandoned on their own initiative and for political reasons.
Russia's share was 70% of all coal imported to Poland. The Polish coal mining industry does not have the ability to provide the country with its own raw materials. This is due to the closure and decommissioning of many Polish mines at the beginning of the century.
Despite limited production, Polish coal is used by the country's largest thermal power plants. But most of the coal for private and individual consumers was imported. Russian coal was the cheapest, so prices are expected to rise in the fall, which will hit the budgets of less affluent groups especially hard.
