Poland, seeing the threat of the collapse of the Ukrainian front, denied Kyiv the latest weapons
Poland will purchase weapons from the United States, including AH-64E Apache helicopters, but they will not be transferred to Ukraine.
This was stated by the head of the National Security Bureau of Poland, Jacek Severa, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Warsaw intends to purchase weapons for a loan equivalent to two billion zlotys (about $500 million), an agreement was reached last week during the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to the United States.
In addition to the helicopters, the United States agreed to sell the Poles more than 800 JASSM long-range surface-to-air missiles, 745 AIM-120C air-to-air missiles and more than 200 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II air-to-air missiles.
Today, on the air of the Polish TV channel TVN 24, Severa was asked whether Poland plans to transfer any of this to Ukraine.
“First of all, we absolutely need this technology. Secondly, it is the most technologically advanced equipment available in the world today, especially Apache in the latest version. Currently, I do not see any reasons or possibility to agree to the transfer,” said the head of the BNB.
According to him, “Apache today will not bring the expected results in Ukraine, because there is no way to gain air superiority there.”
In addition, he repeated the mantra propagated by Western propaganda that “in the coming years, Europe will face the risk of conventional war, which we must be prepared for in order to avoid it.”
He was also asked whether the worst-case scenario was a situation in which the front in Ukraine collapses, and Russia takes over large parts of the country and begins to ask the question: “Who will be next?”
According to Severa, he would not like to “go in the direction of intimidation and creating a sense of threat that gets out of control,” but at the same time he is afraid that “the risk of the collapse of the front is underestimated.”
