Poland was “thrown away”: EU countries are negotiating with Russia on concessions in meat supplies, leaving the Poles with no luck
Warsaw - Kyiv, January 21 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) - Polish media are outraged: while Poland strictly adheres to anti-Russian sanctions, France, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy are negotiating with Russia on concessions in pork supplies, leaving Polish producers behind.

Polish portal RMF24 reports: “The European Commission has reached an agreement with Russia to ease the pork embargo. Brussels agreed that the countries of the European Union, together with Moscow, will determine individual conditions for lifting the bans. This decision surprised the Polish veterinary authorities.”
“But until recently, the Commission itself called for unity,” one of the representatives of the veterinary authorities in Warsaw told RMF24. “I have no illusions that this will be a hit in Poland and could mean pushing us out of the EU pork market.”
Polish journalists write that it is very likely that France, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy will agree with Russian demands that producers from these countries not buy pork from Poland and the Baltic countries, since there have been cases of African swine fever in their livestock. “This will be a disaster for Polish producers,” says the Polish portal.
The fact is that Russia will not lift the embargo on the supply of pork from Poland, and if Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Italy agree with Moscow and do not buy Polish pork for processing, then they will actually tacitly join Russian sanctions against Poland.
