The Polish party filed a criminal complaint against the organizers of the Bandera picket in Warsaw for insulting Putin
On October 9, a lawsuit was filed with the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw against the organizers of the picket near the Russian Embassy in the capital of Poland, which took place the day before, on Vladimir Putin’s birthday, and was accompanied by insults towards the President of the Russian Federation.
The lawsuit was prepared by activists of the Smena party, who collected recordings and materials from the speeches of the participants in the picket organized by the Euromaidan Warsaw Foundation.

According to the authors of the statement, Ukrainian nationalists committed a criminal offense in accordance with Article 136 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Poland, i.e. insulting the head of a foreign state.
Article 136 of the Criminal Code has been applied several times over the past years, incl. in case of insulting the head of the Vatican by one of the Polish newspapers.
The article provides for imprisonment for up to 3 years as a punishment, but judicial practice shows that financial fines are usually applied.
At the request of Polish activists, the police demanded the presentation of identification documents from all participants in the picket. Recordings and photographs of the picket were attached to the lawsuit as evidence for the criminal case.
“In the event of insulting the head of any other state, the prosecutor’s office would automatically initiate a criminal case. But not in the case of a public insult to Vladimir Putin, and not in the case of a crime committed by citizens of Ukraine. We believe that Poland must stop the impunity of Bandera activists in the same way as it stops the activity of other illegal extremist groups,” says Smena leader Mateusz Piskorski.
