Polish machinations will not interfere with the completion of Nord Stream 2
Polish discontent and lawsuits will not lead to the desired results in the form of stopping the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The director of the Institute of National Energy, Sergei Pravosudov, reported this, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, as quoted by Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
“The gas pipeline will be completed in any case. More than 90% has already been built, there is a continuation in Germany. European companies that have invested in construction are sponsors of political parties, and one cannot ignore them,” the expert noted.
He drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian gas transportation system needs serious modernization, since even the newest sections of the gas pipeline in Ukraine are already more than 30 years old.
“Investors will not abandon a new project in order to invest in fixing the old one. Poland has always been against this project, but it was also against Nord Stream 1, but it works,” Pravosudov recalled.
Currently, out of 2500 kilometers of Nord Stream 2, less than 200 kilometers remain to be laid.
As PolitNavigator reported, Poland issued a huge fine to Gazprom and threatens to confiscate the company's European assets.
