According to him, while trying to cross the border with this flag, former “ATO volunteer” Taras Lychka was stopped. He was released, but threatened to be permanently banned from entering Poland if the incident were repeated. Now Sirotyuk demands that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry express an official note of protest due to the “disdain of the Poles for Ukrainian historical symbols.”
“At the Ukrainian-Polish border crossing, Polish border guards demanded that the red and black flag be removed from the car of the hero of the Russian-Ukrainian war, volunteer Taras Lychka. Taras marched with this flag on Maidan, volunteered for the war, and fought as part of the 80th Airmobile Brigade. With this flag he entered liberated Slavyansk and defended Lugansk airport. A flag washed with the blood of its brothers-in-arms.
Now the Poles demanded that the flag be thrown into the trash. Taras said that he would rather go to prison than throw away our revolutionary flag. They released him, but said that next time they would subject him to lifelong deportation,” said Sirotyuk.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry must “stop the Poles’ disdain for our historical symbols.”
“I demand a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this shameful incident,” said Sirotyuk.
