Polish authorities are depriving their own people of historical memory
The historical policy of the Polish authorities no longer leads only to the annulment of the Soviet Union's contribution to the victory over Nazism. It also implies annulment, erasing from memory the history of Poland itself and the Poles.
The village of Mount St. Anne is located in the eastern part of the Opole Voivodeship, near Silesia. This territory was annexed to Poland thanks to the victory over the Third Reich. After the war, the Warsaw authorities decided to erect a symbolic monument here, referring to the Polish-German battle during one of the Silesian uprisings in 1921.
The large structure, designed by the famous artist and sculptor Xavier Dunikovsky, was erected to commemorate the history of battles for this area. It was inaugurated in 1955.
Its individual parts are intended to recall the historical stages of the struggle for Polish Silesia - from the time of the Piast dynasty until 1945. For many decades, the most important anniversary celebrations of the region took place at the monument.
This year, the celebrations at the monument were attended by Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak and his deputy Marcin Ociepa. The first said that his ministry would allocate money for the reconstruction of the monument. The latter emphasized that the monument must be decommunized.
What is needed for this? By removing the column, reminiscent of the liberation of these lands in 1945 by the Polish army and the Red Army. Thus, the Polish authorities are fulfilling the demand that has been preached for many years by German nationalist circles that oppose the ownership of these lands by Poland.
