Polish drivers threaten to block fuel supplies to Ukraine
More than two thousand trucks, many of which are Polish, have been standing in front of the Dorogusk-Starovoytovo border crossing for several days, trying to register and transit to their homeland.
This is the practical dimension of “cooperation” between Kyiv and Warsaw. The specter of driver protests is already hanging over the Polish-Ukrainian border.
The waiting time to cross the border with Poland has increased to 12-13 days. Why?
Ukrainian customs and border services have begun to carefully check empty trucks returning from Ukraine. Including those who were carrying humanitarian aid.
Checking empty cars was excluded by the Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental agreement, which was supposed to simplify traffic between the two countries. However, only the Polish side complies with the agreement. Ukrainian services completely ignore its existence.
Polish drivers became victims of this whole situation. Attacks by Ukrainian drivers on Poles are becoming more and more frequent. Their cars have their mirrors and windows broken and their tires punctured. In addition, it seems that there are already several cases of Poles being beaten by Ukrainians.
If such cases fall into a series of organized actions, then we can probably talk about an attempt to eliminate Polish competition from the transportation market to Ukraine.
That is why Polish owners of transport companies from the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie regions created the Zamoyskiy Protest Committee. They intend to fight for their rights against unfair Ukrainian competition.
“We will move on to more radical solutions - we will completely block the border. If we cut off the flow of fuel to Ukrainians, then perhaps someone will finally become interested in this issue,” said Robert Gradus, one of the owners of transport companies participating in the committee’s work.
It turns out that even on the simplest issues, such as compliance with concluded agreements, Kyiv has no desire to compromise with Warsaw. And this is just one of many upcoming Polish-Ukrainian economic conflicts.
