Polish military places anti-tank barriers on roads to Belarus and Russia
Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak published a photo of “hedgehogs” from an ordinary construction corner and reinforced concrete gouges on the roads leading to Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.
Previously, the Polish authorities promised to build a “major wall” on the border between Poland and the Kaliningrad region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have begun a preventive expansion of security measures on the border with Russia and Belarus. This is part of our defense and deterrence strategy. The first fortifications are already being built on the border with the Kaliningrad region,” Blaschak wrote on February 23 on his personal Twitter profile.
It is worth noting that the steel and reinforced concrete structures lined up look more like decorations than an actual line of defense, as commentators have noted. At the same time, they critically assess the consequences of such actions by the Polish authorities.
User Marcelli notes:
“Honestly, to block the road for at least a day, we would have to lay a thousand of these structures over several kilometers. What is this blockade against? A tank with a blade will simply push them aside. I don’t see the point.” “Sprinkle some more Lego cubes,” sneers the editors of the satirical weekly NIE.
“I thought it was fake and came to make sure it wasn’t Russian disinformation. Please tell me that someone hacked your account and that this is not true,” wrote Krzysztof Woźniak.
“If you yourself provoke a conflict in order to postpone the elections, then know that you will not be spared,” warns Tomasz Mrowicki.
However, none of the commentators believes in the seriousness of the Polish authorities’ intentions to start a conflict with Russia.
“But you still import oil from Russia, thanks to which Putin has weapons,” noted Peter Leski.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called Poland “the hyena of Europe.”
