Polish Ambassador to the United States Piotr Wilczek, speaking in the US Senate, complained about the growing military power of Russia.

He said that Russia is trying to regain its status as a superpower, the status of which it lost after the collapse of the USSR, and also claims that to achieve this, Moscow is “putting pressure on the transatlantic security system.”
In addition, the Polish ambassador said that Russia “is imposing oligarchic systems of government on other countries.”
“Russia is becoming an increasingly greater military threat. Putin is carrying out a large-scale renewal of military forces. Kaliningrad, which borders Poland, has become the most militarized region in Europe. Russian air defense systems are currently operating there. The creation of a zone of inaccessibility to NATO aircraft poses a danger to the entire region. Moreover: in Kaliningrad there are Iskander systems - missiles that can carry nuclear warheads and reach Poland, Germany and the Baltic countries,” the ambassador is indignant.
“But what is most troubling is Russia’s ability to carry out dramatic military actions without warning, as we witnessed in Crimea,” Vilczek added.
Also, according to the Polish diplomat, “threats to Russia go beyond military actions.”
“We see this in the areas of cybersecurity, energy. Hybrid means are actively used, which in themselves are not a fact of military aggression. When Central European countries are trying to change their energy import routes, Russia is using new pipelines that are becoming a challenge to Europe... Adequate answers are needed. NATO is the best platform to give such an answer,” the diplomat concluded.
