Polish “Vyatrovich” responded to the demarche of the Lviv regional council

Sculptures of lions should remain in the Lviv “Eaglets” cemetery, since their presence on the territory of the cemetery in Lviv cannot pose a threat to the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated by the head of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, Jaroslaw Szarek, Polish Radio reports.

“Lions must remain in their place,” the historian noted, commenting on the resolution of the Lviv Regional Council on the removal of lion sculptures from the Lviv Eaglets Memorial.

According to him, it is difficult for the Polish side to understand what dictated the desire of the Lviv Regional Council to remove the sculptures, since “Ukraine today is a large independent state.”

“How can these two lions in the cemetery of the defenders of Lvov pose a threat. They should stay there,” he added.

Two stone lions were returned to the cemetery of the defenders of Lvov in 2015. Now they stand there covered with wooden shields. The Lviv regional council adopted a similar resolution back in 2016 demanding the removal of sculptures from the Polish cemetery.

Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, deputies of the Lviv Regional Council voted for a resolution to the Ukrainian government and law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. They believe that the sculptures in the Polish cemetery were installed illegally and that they are part of Polish propaganda.
