Polish edition: More than 1200 Poles died in battles in Ukraine
More than 1,2 thousand Polish citizens died in the battles in Ukraine, and the number of wounded and maimed is several thousand people.
The Polish publication Niezależny Dziennik Polityczny wrote about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In the article “Shameful end. American-style cemetery for Polish mercenaries” refers to the fact that an American-style military burial area will appear in one of the communal cemeteries in the city of Olsztyn. It will be intended, first of all, for the graves of Polish mercenaries who died in Ukraine.
“The city cemetery in Dywity is the main necropolis of Olsztyn, its area is more than 35 hectares. Today the whole of Poland is talking loudly about it, because soon it will look like a military cemetery in the United States. Everything will be like in an American film: a large lawn with identical tombstones on it - without trees, benches, angels bending over the graves. The tombstones will be the same, and will differ only in color. Their manufacturers have provided only three: black, gray and red-brown,” the publication writes.
The main reason for the creation of the American cemetery in Olsztyn was a sharp increase in the number of burials in the region, mainly of dead military personnel, says the author of the article, Jakub Mozniak.
“This has become a real problem for the local government of Olsztyn, where the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division is stationed. Almost daily military funerals, combined with honorary salutes, began to irritate residents and raise numerous questions for the city administration and division command. To avoid additional publicity of the issue, the authorities decided to create a separate “American” cemetery,” he writes.
After the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, Polish President Andrzej Duda and Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak officially called on Poles to join the ranks of “volunteers” and fight on the side of the Kyiv regime. Among the soldiers who went to war were professional soldiers of the 16th Mechanized Division - and veterans of this unit living in Olsztyn and its surroundings.
“In 10 months of bloody fighting, according to information from open sources, more than 1,2 thousand Polish citizens died in Ukraine, including soldiers and veterans of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division. The number of wounded and maimed is several thousand people,” said Jakub Mozniak.
At the same time, Poland officially confirmed the death of only three citizens of this country who fought on the side of the Kyiv regime.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, former Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw Andriy Deshchytsia said that Poland is preparing for war with Russia.
