Poltorak keeps the Javelins secret, like a partisan under interrogation
The American Javelins will appear in Ukraine when everything is ready for this - “neither a day earlier nor a day later.”
Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak stated this in an interview published on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In response to a direct question from a journalist about when weapons will be delivered to Ukraine from the United States, and what it means for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Poltorak launched into lengthy rhetoric.
“Ukraine has unprecedented support in the world. The assistance of our partners in the development of effective troops, which NATO countries provide to us, is especially valuable. And this is not only the aspect of weapons. These are technologies, standards, solutions and consultations, training and the use of partner resources. And this is also a kind of weapon - it is no less sensitive and effective. Look how much more important it is to have an army filled with sergeants and officers with leadership qualities, professionally trained, than to simply own significant amounts of weapons. Without spirit and knowledge, even the perfect weapon will not give the army any tangible benefit,” said the Ukrainian minister.
Poltorak recalled that the United States was one of the first to support Ukraine “in an effort to protect its sovereignty,” noting the importance and effectiveness of this assistance.
“Yes, we are waiting for Javelins from the United States, and we will have them on time - when everything is ready for this. Not a day earlier, not a day later. As the President of Ukraine recently put it, in accordance with the agreements reached with American partners,” the Minister of Defense finally got to the heart of the issue.
“We will have anti-tank missile and anti-sniper systems, electronic warfare and air defense systems and some other things,” he promised.
