The scandal with the issuance of unusable body armor to those mobilized in Crimea continued
In Crimea, a control shooting of all batches of bulletproof vests purchased for mobilized citizens will be carried out.
This decision was made after reports appeared about armor plates being perforated by 5,45 caliber bullets, said adviser to the head of Crimea Oleg Kryuchkov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Each vest is accepted by military authorities and has a corresponding stamp in the passport,” Kryuchkov said. – Vests were purchased from an official certified supplier of the Ministry of Defense. Before purchase, shooting was carried out at a training ground in Crimea. Penetration occurs only with a bullet with a 7N24 tungsten core. No penetrations from 7N6, 7N10 and 7N22 bullets were recorded. After control shooting of all batches, only high-quality products will be delivered to the troops.”
Last week, a scandal erupted in Crimea over illicit ammunition that was supplied to a group of mobilized reservists before being sent to the front line. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, had to comment on photos of tattered bulletproof vests sealed with duct tape and letters from the mothers of mobilized fighters. The company was blamed, with which an agreement was concluded for the supply of equipment, but the supplier could not cope with the volumes.
By October 20, they promised to replace all body armor and provide light and durable helmets, as well as sets of thermal underwear purchased at the expense of the business. This week, mobilized reservists were sent demi-season tactical boots with insulated insoles. The fighters will be provided with winter boots until mid-December. Sleeping bags and insulated rubber mats will also be donated by November 1.
