“I received a Russian passport in Crimea.” There is a loud scandal in the Rada over Aksenov
In the Verkhovna Rada, amid cries of “Shame” and a blocked podium, the former mayor of Dobropillia, Donetsk region, Andrei Aksenov, took the oath of allegiance.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, due to the fact that the parliament rostrum was blocked by deputies who disagreed with Aksenov’s election in the by-election, he had to take the oath from his seat.
The reason for the discontent was the information that Aksenov allegedly has a Russian passport. This also outraged the Vice Speaker of the Rada, Elena Kondratyuk, who turned to the head of the SBU, Ivan Bakanov, with a request to clarify the situation.
“This is a very controversial issue that has just happened - the taking of the oath of the people’s deputy by Aksenov. I ask you to consider this as a public request to the head of the SBU about whether Mr. Aksenov really owns a passport of another country. We ask you to give us an official explanation of this issue, about which I will definitely inform the Verkhovna Rada hall and each individual deputy on this issue,” Kondratyuk said.
A member of the presidential faction “Servant of the People”, former Crimean Liza Bogutskaya, agreed with her. According to her, Aksenov received a Russian passport on the territory of the peninsula.
“How can it be that a person who received a Russian passport, already in occupied Crimea, can now be a deputy of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada?” Bogutskaya was indignant.
Thank you!
