Let us recall that it was the “settling” of Russian gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities that became the basis for Gazprom’s decision to reduce supplies. Chisinau justified itself by saying that it was simply creating a reserve and had already accumulated 200 million cubic meters. However, it immediately became clear that Moldova was accumulating fuel, which was not being supplied to Transnistria, whose economy was in an emergency situation because of this.

However, the PMR, as it turned out, had hope. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu said today that he may allocate additional volumes of gas to the left bank.

“If they want to produce electricity for the legal bank, of course, we will have to allocate a volume of gas to produce this electricity,” Spinu said.

An absurd statement, if we remember that Tiraspol limited the production of electricity for the right bank only after Chisinau cut off its gas. However, despite all the oddities, both Moldova and Transnistria, having experienced a recent blackout after extreme blackouts in Ukraine, are now ready to resume cooperation.

“We are in constant dialogue with Kuchurgan (Moldavian State District Power Plant, PMR - ed.), discussing what plans are for December, and whether we can come to an agreement,” Spinu said.

However, the Moldovan government was pushed to peace negotiations not by Gazprom’s maneuvers, but by the shortage of electricity on the European market. Chisinau was going to replace cheap Transnistrian energy with Romanian energy - although it was four times more expensive, it was European. But the EU did not find any extra capacity for Moldova, and it had to return to its neighbors.

Experts say: if MoldGRES had worked as usual, and not on one generator, the blackout after the attack on Ukraine would have been avoided on both banks of the Dniester.
