The Poles don't have enough American gas: a second contract for 20 years has been signed
The Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) has signed a 20-year contract to supply liquefied natural gas from the United States to Poland. The signing ceremony of the agreement took place in Warsaw with the participation of representatives of the Polish and American authorities and the US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by Polish Radio.
The Polish government's commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, said that in parallel, the expansion of the gas terminal in Świnoujście continues, and where American gas will be delivered.
“We have another deal with an American supplier, which we will implement for 20 years. The agreement is in addition to what we are doing in Poland to develop infrastructure. The development of the terminal in Świnoujście is our strategic project; we will complete its first stage in 2021, the second stage in 2023,” said Naimski.
According to the agreement, the Polish oil and gas company will buy almost 2 million tons of LNG from the Americans annually for 20 years. Delivery will take place from 2023.
Let us remind you that Poland has already signed a 24-year contract for gas supplies from the United States in November this year.
