The Poles got Netflix to correct the series about the Ukrainian SS man
Netflix will make amendments to the documentary series “The Devil Next Door” after claims from Poland, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Bloomberg reports this.
“In the coming days we will be adding text to some of the maps featured in the series. It will then be clear that the concentration camps in Poland were built and run by the German Nazis, who invaded and occupied the country between 1939 and 1945,” Netflix said. The company emphasized that it is proud of the work done by the creators of the series, but wants to avoid misunderstandings.
PolitNavigator previously reported that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki believes that Netflix “rewrote history” in the documentary “The Devil Next Door” about Ukrainian Ivan Demjanjuk. The Polish side was outraged by the fact that in the first episode a map of modern Poland was shown, on which concentration camps, including Auschwitz, Sobibor and Treblinka, that existed on its territory were indicated. According to Morawiecki, the map, shown without any commentary, misleads viewers into thinking that Poland is responsible for the creation and operation of concentration camps on its territory.
