The Poles want the UN to deal with the Ukraine issue instead of the Normandy Four
Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz proposed appointing a special ambassador of the UN Secretary General for Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He writes about it German edition Handelsblatt.
“I propose to appoint a special envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Ukraine. I think that the United States and the EU should join the so-called Normandy format (Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia). Germany and France may think that they represent Europe, but in our opinion this is not the case,” Czaputowicz is convinced.
“We can only be represented by European institutions, in this case the High Representative (of the EU for Foreign and Security Policy - Ed.), and not other countries,” the diplomat noted.
Earlier, Germany announced the resumption of dialogue in the Normandy format in January at the level of advisers to the leaders of the countries. The last meeting in this format took place on December 11.
