The Poles are boasting: they will have the most powerful ground forces in Europe
Poland strives to create the strongest ground forces in Europe because it believes that Russia “will not strike the strong.”
The country's Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak, stated this in an interview with Sieci.
According to him, the Polish army should be so numerous and strong that its very existence would scare off a potential aggressor.
“The Kremlin rulers will not hit the strong. When they see weakness, they attack. In both artillery and armored vehicles, in the end, there will not be a stronger country in Europe. Among the European NATO countries, we will have the strongest ground forces. We are on the front line, we have a border with Russia both in the north, and in fact, militarily, on the Belarusian side,” Blaszczak said.
According to the minister, this year the country will receive the first Patriot anti-aircraft guns, ordered in 2018, and there will also be a battery identical to the British Sky Saber short-range system.
Blaszczak also mentioned, in particular, negotiations with Germany on tanks that should help fill the gap, equipment sent to Ukraine, as well as recent arms purchases from South Korea.
Earlier, Mariusz Blaszczak said that Poland intends to purchase at least 180 K2 tanks and 48 FA-50 fighters from South Korea.
And recently the first batch of American Abrams tanks arrived in Poland. As Blaschak said, military equipment will help “moderate the aggressor in an emergency.”
