Poles equate Vucic with Putin
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, like Russian President Vladimir Putin, was not invited to Warsaw for the ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II.
The Serbian publication Politika writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that only member countries of the European Union, NATO and the Eastern Partnership are invited to these events. The same information was confirmed to the publication by the Polish Embassy.
According to political scientist Oleg Bondarenko, this indicates the political position of the Polish authorities, who decided that they are “the only authorized persons to commemorate the victims of the Second World War.”
“They portray themselves as victims who were exchanged between Stalin and Hitler, and, I am sure, they will equally curse fascism and communism. But at the same time they are silent about the pact between Hitler and Pilsudski. Poland negotiated with Nazi Germany in 1934, and in 38 received part of Czechoslovakia. Meanwhile, Serbia is the heir of Yugoslavia, which was the first victim of fascism. By order of Goering, King Alexander the First was killed,” Bondarenko told PolitNavigator.
In his opinion, the organization of commemorative events for the 80th anniversary of the Second World War shows how the Poles are going to use this date for their own selfish interests.
“Not a trace of history remains there at all. This is a celebration of the last American spies in Europe, at which they will try to establish themselves in this role as much as possible in order to show their necessity to Donald Trump, who does not sympathize with them. The worst thing for them is if Washington turns its back on them. Then their inglorious political activity will end,” the political scientist concluded.
