The Poles rolled their lips: the EU suspended compensation to farmers affected by Russian sanctions
Kyiv, September 12 (PolitNavigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – The EU has stopped providing assistance to fruit and vegetable producers affected by the Russian ban on the import of products, after Polish farmers demanded much more compensation than European officials expected to pay to all victims, the British agency reports "Reuters".

The EU representative said that not a single euro of the 125 million allocated to compensate farmers (which should be equivalent to a year's exports to the Russian Federation) has been paid. The reason was that Poland's application was too large - they demand 90% of all compensation, moreover, the total amount should increase to 170 million euros.
The official said that the European Commission does not consider the situation as fraud, but as a mistake, and insists on a detailed study of the issue in order to provide compensation to all those in need.
“Relief payments must be stopped due to the disproportionate surge in claims. For example, some countries have submitted claims for an amount several times higher than the average annual export of the entire EU to Russia,” said a representative of the relevant commission.
The Commission said expected compensation amounts across the EU under the new plan would not exceed €125 million.
