“Let’s wave a hand to Moscow, let it return to the forest” - Poroshenko
A visa-free regime with the EU has not only practical, but also symbolic significance for Ukraine, since it destroys the barriers erected at one time by the empire.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this during a speech at the 15th annual meeting of the “Yalta European Strategy” YES in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The President noted that the ten millionth biometric passport is expected to be issued in a few days.
“But despite this telling figure, I remain of the opinion that the symbolic political value of visa-free travel far exceeds its practical application value. It is we, Ukrainians, who are destroying the barriers that the empire once erected, the iron curtain between us and our European neighbors.
And this year’s Ukraine-NATO summit confirmed the Euro-Atlantic perspective of a great European country and the initiative to fix the course towards NATO in the Constitution is not only a signal to society about the firmness of intentions, it is not only the intention to once again wave hand to Moscow - goodbye, our affectionate Misha, come back to your fairytale forest,” Poroshenko said.
