People came to the Ukrainian Embassy with portraits of the victims, they brought flowers and lit candles.

“We call to account those Nazis who committed this crime and are still committing crimes in Mariupol, in the Donbass. Based on the results of the special operation, we will achieve justice, and everyone guilty of this crime will be punished, since we know all the names of all these fascists. We count on our armed forces and we will bring this matter to the end,” coordinator of the “Volunteer Company of Combat Brotherhood” movement Stanislav Kuzmenko.

“We will not rest until the perpetrators are punished. Therefore, today our main slogan is: “We remember Odessa, we remember Donbass,” said the leader of the movement, Anton Demidov, and those gathered chanted this slogan.

Ukrainian pianist Valentina Lisitsa performed Rachmaninov’s composition “Prelude”.

“We are divided not into Ukrainians and Russians, and not even into Western Ukrainians and Little Russians. We are divided into people and non-humans. And non-humans - this evil that burned people - were not punished. This is a weed that was not uprooted 8 years ago. Those responsible for the death of Odessa residents and people in Donbass were not punished. This weed is everywhere. I hope the evil will be rooted out. Until this moment, the ashes of Odessa will knock in our hearts,” said Lisitsa.

Kiev resident Lisitsa is known for supporting Donbass from the first days of the war and repeatedly performing concerts there. In April 2015, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra officially announced that it had removed the pianist from the concert program due to her “provocative comments” regarding the situation in Ukraine.
