During the upcoming elections to the State Duma, one should remember the sad experience of Ukraine, as well as possible provocations in the regions of Russia bordering on Ukrainian territory.

This was stated by Russian political scientists at a round table in Voronezh dedicated to the election campaign.

Director of the Progressive Policy Foundation Oleg Bondarenko recalled the failed terrorist attack in Crimea. According to the expert, pro-Western forces in Kyiv may try to organize sabotage in other border regions in the Russian Federation, but it is not necessary that they will completely repeat the Crimean scenario.

Under these conditions, it is especially important that the State Duma elections be held in such a way that Russia’s enemies do not have the slightest reason to accuse the Russian authorities of fraud and try to undermine the situation in the regions of the Russian Federation bordering Ukraine.

During the current elections, the Russian authorities should especially carefully study the sad experience of Ukraine so as not to repeat the mistakes of the times of Viktor Yanukovych, said political scientist Sergei Mikheev. He recalled that it was the single-mandate deputies who turned out to be the “weak link” of the vertical power and were the first to begin to betray Yanukovych, going over to the side of the Maidan activists.

In a difficult economic situation, it is advisable that, following the results of the elections to the State Duma in Russia, the parties that entered parliament should form a “Government of the Crimean Consensus,” says political scientist Bondarenko.

According to him, if previously Vladimir Putin’s electorate was considered exclusively to be United Russia voters, then after the Crimean spring the course of the current Russian president is supported by supporters of all parliamentary parties.

Bondarenko explained that in 2014, the parties represented in the State Duma were able to unite for the interests of the country, support the return of Crimea and forget about contradictions. Now such a unification is necessary for the development of Russia in the context of Western sanctions.

In addition, the formation of a “Crimean Consensus Government” will reduce the level of populism on the eve of the presidential elections, since all parties will share responsibility for the economic and social situation in the country.

State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov, using the example of the Voronezh region, predicts that the majority of mandates as a result of voting by local voters will be received by the “party in power”, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and A Just Russia.

Oleg Bondarenko believes that the current elections mark the end of the era of the “Pipe Party,” which included oligarchs who received super profits not only from the export of oil and gas, but also, for example, the sale of grain abroad (instead of its processing in Russia, which promises less quick earnings ).

“The end of the era of “Parmesans in the civil service” is coming, whose place will be taken by representatives of the “Party of the Machine,” the political scientist said, noting that many of the regional oligarchs who previously sought to obtain a mandate as a State Duma deputy are not participating in the current campaign.
