The IMF’s new demands to raise the retirement age in Ukraine to 63 years and abolish early retirement violate the Constitution, are criminal and lead to depopulation of the country, economic expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk said at a press conference in Kiev.

“Our average age of death in men is 65 years. In fact, the retirement age is approaching the age, so to speak, of the natural decline of pensioners. There is a joke going around - “help the state, you won’t live to see retirement.”
As for the elimination of special pensions, it will be very strange to look at a sixty-year-old ballerina on stage. And I would like to wish our rulers that they can fly on planes at the helm of which is a pilot who is sixty-two years old, with a heart attack and so on.
It’s difficult for even a young, healthy person to survive in a mine. What will a sixty-year-old miner do there? He'll just die. He won't live to see 60. There are specialties that physically cannot work anymore.
And if the state follows the lead of the IMF and cancels early retirement, this means that it simply abandons these people without any social protection, without giving them a single chance in this country to live up to retirement,” says the expert.
