Ex-speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vasily Filipchuk stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States became the country that forced Ukraine to nuclear disarmament. It was the United States that stood behind Kyiv’s decision to renounce nuclear weapons and the Budapest Memorandum. It was the United States that should have been the first country to come to the aid of Ukraine after Russian aggression and the annexation of Crimea. And the fact that only now, four years after Crimea was included in the Russian Federation, they are starting to provide us with weapons is undoubtedly a very inactive participation on the part of the United States in resolving the conflict.
I think that if a country provides someone with guarantees instead of nuclear weapons, then there should be a completely different level of sanctions and actions. This is too late, this is too little - the United States should have acted much more actively and much more aggressively,” Filipchuk said.
