“We will provide assistance to Ukraine, but less than promised. Trump doesn’t mind,” US diplomat
Most likely, the US leadership will approve the allocation of assistance to Ukraine, but in reality it will be a much smaller amount than the previously discussed $61 billion.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this at the Kiev Security Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is not 100%, but 60% of the fact that we will see that the law on assistance to Ukraine will be adopted and approved in two months, or a little later.
It won't be the whole amount, not the entire economic component of this bill. Maybe, this money will be less. But despite all this, the law will be passed,” Herbst said.
He will emphasize that, in fact, former US President Donald Trump is not so against continued financing of Ukraine.
“One of the reasons why he has a chance is because Trump is not so categorically against it. If he had categorically opposed this legislation, Speaker Johnson would not have been able to vote on it.
And in Congress there are other possibilities [to block it],” the diplomat concluded.
