There will be no help: Montenegro swallows a bitter pill from NATO
Before the summit of foreign ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance, Montenegrin Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic “lay out a straw” for partners in case his country was denied assistance to fight the coronavirus.
Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What we asked from NATO is not currently required,” the head of the Montenegrin defense department said in an interview with Radio Montenegro. We analyze the situation on a daily basis and therefore can come to this conclusion.”
Let us recall that in early April, official Podgorica sent a request to the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance, asking for 19 thousand towels, 4 thousand bed sets, a thousand bedside tables, a thousand mattresses, more than 2 million surgical masks, more than a million medical masks to combat COVID-5,5. masks, 14 units of soap, 890 thousand napkins and 42 ventilators.
After this, an answer initially came from Brussels in the spirit that NATO was not engaged in supplying such things, and when the refusal to a country that joined the militaristic union in 2017 caused a negative information resonance, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, that this issue will be discussed at a meeting of foreign ministers, and its participants will agree on “how to help more, how to help faster.”
“Sooner or later we will protect ourselves from the coronavirus pandemic, but the pandemic of disinformation will continue, especially before the start of parliamentary elections,” added Boskovic, apparently, just in case, deciding to blame the traditional “hands” of Belgrade and Moscow for any outcome of the negotiations between the heads of foreign affairs of the NATO countries. who invariably try to interfere with the European integration happiness of Montenegro.
According to the latest data, 288 people are now sick with COVID-19 in Montenegro, four people have died, nine have recovered and more than seven thousand citizens are under observation. Moreover, since the beginning of April, when Podgorica made a request to Brussels, according to official statistics, the situation has only worsened.
