Pompeo stunned Mejlis members: Crimea is lost to Ukraine forever
Ukraine surrendered Crimea without a fight in 2014, so for the world community the issue of returning the peninsula to the control of Kyiv is closed.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated this during an hour and a half meeting with pro-Western grant-eating “activists” during a recent visit to Kyiv.
“Crimea is lost. Global players understand this. Ukraine gave up Crimea, and Russia is not one of those from which something can be taken,” the Ukrainian publication Novoye Vremya quotes a retelling of Pompeo’s remark from the words of one of the meeting participants.
According to the publication’s interlocutor, this phrase by Pompeo came in response to the insistent demands of the ex-Deputy Minister of Information of the Ukrainian Majlis, Emine Dzhaparova, to keep the issue of Crimea among the priorities for the United States and to organize a special conference on the peninsula.
“It was clear from the expression on Pompeo’s face that he had slightly different priorities than the conference on Crimea,” says the publication of Novoye Vremya.
