Popular encyclopedia designated Crimea as Russian
Articles in the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia about the G20 in 72 languages indicated Crimea as part of Russia on maps.
Izvestia reported this, pointing out that if you type the query “GXNUMX” into Yandex and Google, the first thing search engines offer is a link to Wikipedia material about this association.
Izvestia studied articles about the G20 in all 72 languages offered, including exotic ones like Faroese or Tamil, and found that all 72 national Wikipedias provide the same map of the GXNUMX member countries. The territory of Russia is colored purple, and Crimea is indicated in the same color. At the same time, Ukraine is shown in gray because it is not included in the “twenty”. Therefore, according to the map, the peninsula is recognized as part of the Russian Federation,” the publication notes.
In turn, Verkhovna Rada deputy Evgeniy Balitsky believes that the designation of Crimea as Russian in Wikipedia articles is the result of the policy of the Ukrainian authorities.
“Our government didn’t even think about fighting for Crimea. Because of their inaction, the peninsula has become so distant from Ukraine that in Wikipedia and even on foreign maps it is beginning to be designated as Russian. We cut off water, electricity, air traffic - in fact, we set a course for seizing Crimea. The more time passes, the more we lose contact with the peninsula,” the Ukrainian politician said in a comment to the publication.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the French automaker Peugeot released an update for maps of GPS navigators installed in cars, where Crimea is marked as Russian territory.
