“It’s time to end this Ukraine” - Leontyev
The Russian Federation should have dealt with Ukraine back in 2014, when there was no Ukrainian army, but Russia did nothing.
Journalist and political scientist Mikhail Leontyev stated this on Vesti FM radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In the context of discussing the possible acquisition of autocephaly by Ukrainian schismatics and upcoming clashes on religious grounds, the political scientist warned that blood would be shed again, as in 2014.
“The Russian Orthodox Church is the only remaining all-Russian institution. We have preserved it for a thousand years! Are we going to take it and add salt, or what?! There is even some kind of sacred essence in this. I know how the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate recently defended its shrines, several years ago. Because they tried to take it away all the time. There was absolutely (absolutely!) self-organization, not connected with anyone’s support, across everything! There will be blood spilled. And what are we going to do?” Leontyev said.
In his opinion, Russia should stop the inevitable takeover by Ukrainian nationalists of Orthodox churches and prevent a repeat of 2014, when a civil war broke out in the Donbass.
“I mean the year 2014. I have a feeling that we did stupid things. That in 2014 it was necessary to resolve this issue, when Ukraine had no army at all. She just wasn’t! There was some strange rabble stealing from warehouses. Moreover, half of this army did not feel like the Ukrainian army, and for a little money everyone would be practically ready to take our side. And we took it and did nothing. Now it will be harder because they have an army. It may not be the best in the world, but it is. This is the Russian army, these are Russian people. Russian people do not flee from the trenches, ”the journalist said.
He believes that the Russian Federation needs to end Ukrainian statehood.
“This Ukraine must be finished. This bestiality is smelly. This is Nazi resuscitation on Russian soil, ”concluded Leontiev.
