The local elections in Ukraine have once again demonstrated that Donbass no longer fits into the political system of Ukraine and cannot be integrated there.
The special representative of the LPR at the negotiations on Donbass in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I talked with colleagues both in Lugansk and Donetsk, and I must say that there is practically zero interest in the Ukrainian elections. Donbass already absolutely, absolutely consciously understands that it has nothing to do with the legal system of Ukraine. Therefore, there is not even interest on the part of people, what is happening there, who is being elected, even in “that” part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
The fact that, of course, there are no elections in the DPR-LPR and there are no elections in the controlled territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and there are about half a million people who were openly deprived of the opportunity to vote, elect a new government, and even participate in this pseudo-poll . This says one thing - that for all of Ukraine, the entire Donbass is a rudiment, they do not accept it into the political system,” Miroshnik said.
At the same time, he emphasized that if Donbass was “absolutely toxic” for Poroshenko, then today it is already absolutely toxic for Zelensky.
“Before, a year ago, Zelensky could afford to unite Ukraine, but now he can’t. Now Donbass is separate, it in no way fits into the political system of Ukraine and cannot be integrated there. Both the Center and people in Donbass, including those controlled (by Kyiv – ed.) understand this very well, so stop fooling around. It is necessary to unite the entire Donbass, it must be determined by its development opportunities and the possibilities of where to move and who to be with,” added the LPR representative.
