“It’s time to return to multi-vectorism” - in Kyiv they lamented about billions of dollars in losses due to the break with the CIS
Due to the severance of ties with the CIS, Ukraine loses $20 billion annually.
Integration and macroeconomics expert Alexander Koltunovich stated this on air on TV channel 112 Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine can restore lost ties and regain its markets within a year.
“Ukraine has colossal losses in foreign economic activity. In terms of exports, we are losing $20 billion annually compared to the 13th year. This is colossal money for the Ukrainian economy. The current government has not diversified the European vector, or rather the Eurasian one with the help of the European one,” the expert said.
He believes that Ukraine needs to “return to a multi-vector policy.”
“We need to restore our economic ties with the CIS countries. For example, in 2013 we exported $26 billion to the CIS countries. According to the results of the 17th – only six. Here's the 20 billion we lost last year alone. We can resume ties within a year and return to a free trade zone within the CIS. Moreover, we can enter the projects of the BRICS, SCO, APEC countries and we can move on. We can increase GDP in a year – 185, 200 billion dollars in GDP growth,” Koltunovich said.
Earlier, Ukrainian economic expert Alexander Okhrimenko said that Ukraine’s exit from the CIS would mean for the former Soviet republic new economic losses due to termination of contractsnecessary for trade with many countries.
Also Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced a break in economic cooperation from the Russian Federation.
