Poroshenko drinks shamelessly - he’s scared
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko needs a provocation at a chemical plant in Mariupol and a large-scale offensive operation along the border of the DPR and Russia in order to remain in power. Russian political experts stated this in comments to PolitNavigator.
Thus, political scientist Oleg Bondarenko notes that Poroshenko may well resort to provocation on the eve of the presidential elections scheduled for March next year.
“I think that this is quite possible, and this will allow Poroshenko to extend the martial law law and bring it as close as possible to the date of his elections - what he is striving for. It is fundamentally important for him to bring martial law into the context of his election campaign as much as possible and to bring its validity period as close as possible to March 31, the date of the presidential election. Unfortunately, such a provocation is more than real. And an attempt to make such a move is quite possible,” Bonarenko said.
His colleague Alexey Martynov adds that the Ukrainian guarantor needs a “small victorious war” in order to prolong the martial law in the country: “Any provocation in today’s conditions is possible, and in the sick imagination of Pyotr Alekseevich, aggravated by his excessive consumption of alcohol and other stimulants, - could be reality,” Martynov said.
“I think that all his hysteria is connected with the fact that he suddenly realized that under no circumstances could he win the elections. Doesn't even make it to the second round. In this regard, he decided to abolish these upcoming elections altogether by escalating tensions. But since he cannot start real hostilities, he is scared, so he engages in such provocations. Hence the excessive consumption of alcohol and other brain-dehydrating substances. He’s scared, he understands what he’s doing, but he can’t help but do it, because otherwise he’ll lose power. And if he loses power, he will become food, his own comrades will tear him apart,” says the expert.
As PolitNavigator reported, today the official representative of the DPR operational command, Colonel Eduard Basurin, said that the Ukrainian command plans to organize a major chemical sabotage in front-line Mariupol to obtain a pretext for conducting a large-scale offensive operation on the territory of the DPR.
