Poroshenko’s chatter about “Wagnerites” earned him money for a new criminal case
Boastful recognition of ex-president of Ukraine Petro PoroshenkoThat the operation to lure Russian PMC fighters to Belarus, which Kiev failed last summer, was sanctioned by it back in 2018, can be called at least strange, since history knows only a few cases when states officially took responsibility for special operations carried out in other countries.
Georgiy Tuka, former deputy minister for “temporarily occupied territories” and internally displaced persons, stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I was quite surprised by Poroshenko’s statement during his interview, when he said that it was he who authorized this special operation in 2018. Let me explain what caused the surprise. Firstly, it’s not surprising that countries’ intelligence services carry out special operations outside the borders of their countries - no, let’s not live with rose-colored glasses. Secondly, the fact is that there are very few cases in which the state officially recognized the fact that it was officially carrying out special operations beyond its own borders in the history of mankind.
The last case, if I'm not mistaken, was when the Americans officially admitted that they killed Osama bin Laden on Pakistani territory without prior information from the authorities of that country, because they were afraid of a leak. The Pakistani authorities were informed about the special operation 20 minutes after its completion,” Tuka said.
He also recalled the murder of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in Iran, calling it an excellent special operation at the highest technical and technological level, but emphasized that no one took responsibility for it.
“And suddenly Poroshenko admits on live television that he gave sanctions for such an operation. I want to be wrong, but I have a feeling that already on the second of the month, as soon as the State Bureau of Investigation opened, at nine Portnov was already standing at the entrance with another note demanding an investigation, according to the actions of Petro Poroshenko in this context, what will happen - 59- That’s not the point,” added the ex-official.
