“I fell, the war caught up with me, and I fought for my life for seven months. I spent 36 days in a military intensive care hospital, underwent 11 operations in 2 weeks, I was practically in the next world. And, which is significant, every week I wrote to the faction that I was in intensive care and did not have the strength to speak. Nobody called me, not Poroshenko, even though I was his adviser and deputy.

For example, the president of the [Ukrainian football] federation Pavelko found out on the second day and spent a week trying to get to me, calling me on the phone for an hour to support me. General Gritsak, General Malikov, the head of the SBU - on the third day they sent Afghan generals from service to me, and they still support me in every possible way. Neither Poroshenko nor his entourage ever called.

It was only later that I was discharged from the hospital in serious condition on March 31st for the first round. And then by chance I met one of the leaders two weeks later, I don’t remember who, and they started telling me that they didn’t know that I needed to meet with Poroshenko, that he didn’t know, and so on. I said: okay, I’ll be here for another week and then I’ll leave, because my situation is very difficult, I need to have an operation abroad. He didn’t call, didn’t meet, and therefore I can tell you: after all these actions, for me this man as a president, as a politician and as a man simply does not exist,” Kunitsyn said.
