Poroshenko will honor Bandera, despite Poland’s position
Poland should not tell Ukraine which heroes it should glorify. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced this today at a press conference in Kyiv.

“We don’t need anyone to tell us which Ukrainian heroes we should honor and which ones we shouldn’t. We'll figure it out ourselves. Likewise, we do not advise who Poland should honor and who it should not. This is not good. We are confident that the practice of banning entry or freezing research is wrong. I am sure that politicians should look to the future and leave the past to historians,” Poroshenko said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the Polish Sejm adopted a law establishing responsibility for the propaganda of Bandera ideology. The leader of the terrorist OUN-UPA Stepan Bandera is considered a national hero in Ukraine.
