Poroshenko, through proxies, legalized the receipt of 2 billion from Akhmetov
The Economic Court of the Donetsk region approved four settlement agreements between companies close to Petro Poroshenko’s trusted financier Makar Pasenyuk and PJSC Donetskstal, a metallurgical plant owned by Rinat Akhmetov, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
About it Finbalance reports.
According to the settlement agreements, Donetskstal undertook to repay the debt in the amount of UAH 2080000000. before "Glory" for one month.
We are talking about loans received by Donetskstal from various banks in 2011-2012. At that time, Donetskstal belonged to businessman Viktor Nusenkis. After Maidan, Nusenkis began to wind down his business in Ukraine. And Rinat Akhmetov’s group began to buy his assets.
At this time, Donetsksteel's debt obligations belonged to various business entities. For example, Sberbank of Russia sold the right to claim a loan to the company FC Priority of Sergei Kiy, a former assistant to the president of FC Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov. The loans also belonged to VTB.
In 2017, the ICU company of the financial adviser to President Petro Poroshenko, Makar Paseniuk, began buying these debt obligations with significant discounts in relation to the nominal size of the loans. Priority sold its loan at a discount of 88%. VTB sold the loan at a discount of 87%. Thus, ICU bought out Donetskstal’s debts for only 12-13% of their value.
After this, Akhmetov’s Metinvest company became the owner of the Donetskstal group. In turn, the ICU company filed a lawsuit against Donetskstal demanding repayment of the purchased debts at par.
In August 2018, Akhmetov’s group gained control over Nusenkis’ Donetskstal enterprises and in September entered into settlement agreements with ICU to repay loans in the amount of 100% of their size. Thus, ICU’s net profit amounted to 87-88% of the amount of repaid debt under the specified agreements with VTB and Priority. According to the known four settlement agreements, it is said that debts will be repaid in the amount of 2080000000 billion UAH.
