Poroshenko cynically exploits Motorola's murder
One of the goals of the murder of militia commander Arseniy Motorola Pavlov may be to provoke the DPR into military action in order to enable Petro Poroshenko to accuse Donetsk of violations and escape from the trap of the Minsk agreements.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by political scientist Denis Denisov, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries.

“The murder of Motorola will not contribute to the further implementation of the Minsk agreements. Such actions only influence confrontations between the young republics and Ukraine. In this regard, we should talk about a rather serious provocation on the Ukrainian side, designed to once again disrupt the Minsk agreements.
Last week we saw that negotiations on the implementation by Ukraine of the political part of the agreements have largely stalled due to the position of Kyiv - the Ukrainian government continues to demonstrate that it does not intend to fulfill its obligations. In this regard, the murder of Motorola is a clear example that Ukraine is ready to undertake any actions and provocations in order to further sabotage the implementation of agreements.
Regarding how events may develop further, there is hope that even in this difficult situation, the leaders of Donetsk and Lugansk will remain committed to the Minsk agreements and will continue to be committed to negotiations, although there are fewer and fewer opportunities for this.
If Ukraine continues to act in this way, openly disrupting the implementation of agreements, then Donetsk and Lugansk will have a free hand to respond symmetrically to such provocations.
In general, the murder of Motorola will have minimal impact on the combat effectiveness of the DPR troops, although it should be noted that he was a symbol for the Donetsk resistance, one of the iconic figures. But this murder, rather, mobilizes his supporters, people who were and are part of the units commanded by Motorola. Thus, their combat effectiveness can only increase,” Denisov argues.
