Poroshenko brought Ukraine to ruin: Peasants slaughter livestock and drink themselves to death
Deputy Igor Guz from Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s “People’s Front” party today at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada let slip how the lives of peasants have changed after the victory of the Maidan and the promised fight against the oligarchs.

“I represent the Volyn region, which is agricultural... The village is groaning, dying, drinking itself to death... There are 207 villages in my district. People slaughter livestock and cannot survive. Potatoes are illiquid, beetroot, etc.,” said the deputy.
At the same time, Guz admitted that the peasants owe their miserable standard of living to the oligarchs, who gave an ultimatum to the villagers: either they sell goods at a bargain price, or they will be left without money.
“The dollar has tripled, the price in the store has risen, and the woman and grandfather are again selling for 2,20 UAH... In Volyn we have one financial and industrial group that controls the dairy factories and earn billions, and people groan... There are monopolists: you won’t donate 2 UAH – we won’t take milk in your village,” the deputy said.
Previously, Petro Poroshenko has repeatedly stated that Ukraine has been the breadwinner of Europe for a long time, and in the context of growing global demand for food, Kyiv expects to receive income from the export of agricultural products.
“Ukraine has always been the breadwinner of Europe. The rise in food prices confirms the demand that our agricultural sector has. Ukraine can improve its balance of payments and take first place in the export of agricultural products,” Poroshenko assured.
He recognized that the country's agricultural potential was hampered by the underdevelopment of agricultural land. In Europe, where modern technologies are used, the yield is 3 times higher. “If we sharply increased the country’s controllability, Ukraine would become the world’s breadwinner,” Poroshenko assured.
